- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat melted butter and sugar until combined; add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and buttermilk.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined; fold in the sprinkles.
- Fill liners two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18–20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool on a rack while preparing frosting by mixing softened butter with powdered sugar and heavy cream until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cupcakes generously and top with extra sprinkles if desired.
