Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix granulated sugar, flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine orange juice, egg yolks, butter, zest, sour cream, and water until smooth.
- Gradually blend wet ingredients into dry ingredients using an electric mixer on low speed.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool layers in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- For frosting, beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and egg whites until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cake layers and garnish as desired.
